In 2014, during the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Yaroslava and her family lived in the eastern Donetsk region and were forced to move to Kharkiv. In February 2022, when the full-scale war began, Yaroslava (now 15-years-old) and her family needed to hide in bomb shelters once again, later having to flee the city outright. Her father, a serviceman in the Azov regiment of the Ukrainian military, was deployed to Mariupol where he died while heroically defending the city.
Yaroslava and her mother must now carry on and start a new life without their beloved dad and husband there with them.
