«WE CANNOT BRING BACK OUR CHILDREN’S MOTHERS AND FATHERS, BUT WE CAN GIVE THEM A HAPPY CHILDHOOD AND A DECENT FUTURE»

History of the Fund

The Children of Heroes Fund was established on March 3, 2022. It was initiated by businessman Danylo Pasko, who personally experienced the loss of his father as a child. Driven by a deep understanding of this pain, Danylo gathered a team that shared his values and commitment to supporting children who lost one or both parents in the full-scale war. The idea quickly found support among other Ukrainians, public figures, and entrepreneurs. In April 2022, the Fund officially began its work.

Our development and achievements

It all started with a small number of families who needed help. Building trust with them and showing that they could rely on us was essential.

This is how the role of a Family Assistant was created a person who works directly with families, identifies their needs, and helps address them.

The Fund was initially supported by its co-founders. As the number of children grew, partners and donors from different countries joined our mission. Over time, the Fund improved its operations. We were featured in the media, and more families learned about us through word of mouth.

Today, thousands of children are under the care of the Children of Heroes Fund. Sadly, the war continues, and the number of children in need keeps growing daily.

Funding

Today, the Fund operates thanks to charitable donations from caring individuals, Ukrainian and international companies, and global organizations. Their support helps improve the lives of Ukrainian children in need.

All reports on the activities of the Children of Heroes Fund are available on our website and social media pages.

How we help

We provide our beneficiaries with comprehensive, long-term support across several key areas.

Psychological support: We offer therapy and emotional support to help children recover and thrive.
Socialization and development: We organize camps, workshops, events, and motivational meetings.
Legal support: We assist families with legal advice and services to help them navigate complex issues.
Medical care: We cover the costs of medical consultations, treatments, medications, and health insurance.
Humanitarian aid: We provide emergency support to meet basic needs such as food packages, hygiene products, and clothing.
Holiday presents: We make holidays special by providing gifts and festive experiences.
Educational assistance: We cover tuition fees, provide school supplies, gadgets, and run educational programs.
Higher education support: We offer career counseling and assistance with college and university admissions.
Case management: We provide financial aid, housing recovery, evacuation, and relocation help for families in crisis.

The annual cost of access to all programmes for one child is approximately 200,000 UAH.

We strive to provide everything each child needs. However, with limited resources and a growing number of beneficiaries, we have adopted a needs-based approach. This means the Fund prioritizes families facing the most difficult circumstances and those unable to meet their basic needs on their own.

Representative offices in three countries

To strengthen oversight of the Fund’s activities and ensure transparency, we have established a Supervisory Board in Ukraine. It consists of highly qualified managers and a former beneficiary who directly represents the interests of the families supported by the Fund.

The Children of Heroes Fund also has representative offices in the United States and the Netherlands. In each of these countries, a Board of Directors oversees the effective management of the Fund’s activities at the international level.

Our inspiration

Every day, we hear the stories of children who have lost their loved ones to war and are now under the care of our Fund. These are stories of resilience, courage, and hope for a better future. You can read some of them in the Children's stories section.

Our mission is to do everything possible to ensure that each of these stories leads to a hopeful, happy outcome. We strive to support as many children in Ukraine as possible, helping them stay strong through difficult times and feel whole and happy again. After all, these children are our future.
