On August 31, the children of our Fund and their mothers met with the President of the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) and Metropolitan of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in the US, Bishop Borys Gudziak. This event was of great spiritual and educational significance for all participants.
The meeting began with a joint prayer and a short tour of the student church of St. Sophia. The bishop emphasized the exceptional role of faith in the life of every person, especially in difficult times when spiritual support becomes an integral part of our being.
The main part of the meeting took place in the auditorium, where a warm and trusting atmosphere prevailed. The family members shared their stories of loss and how they cope with pain and difficulties. Bishop Borys Gudziak spoke about his own spiritual experience and Christian understanding of death, emphasizing the importance of hope and support. The meeting ended with a blessing given by the bishop to all those present, symbolically summarizing the spiritual part of the event.
In addition, the beneficiaries were given a unique opportunity to get acquainted with UCU’s academic building, collegium, library (Sheptytsky Center), and St. Sophia’s Student Church.
