Children of Heroes Charity Fund Spoke at a Roundtable Discussion at Ivan Franko University of Lviv

On September 27, 2024, Ivan Franko National University of Lviv hosted a roundtable discussion on the topic “Problems of Children of Fallen Heroes”. The meeting was organized by the Center for Social Development and Public Initiatives of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv in cooperation with the Children of Heroes Charity Fund.

Valeriya Abdal, co-founder of the Children of Heroes Charity Fund, spoke at the roundtable: “The words that children are our future have ceased to be a formal phrase. These words have really acquired new meanings not only for us as an organization that cares about children, but also for all Ukrainians,” the speaker noted.

Among the roundtable participants were family members of fallen heroes who expressed their views on improving work effectiveness with such families. Important aspects were discussed, such as increasing attention to educational projects, involving educators and scientists, and expanding free medical support.

“Today, there is nothing more important than the problems of children and families of our fallen heroes who gave their lives for the Ukrainian state and for us to live in an independent European Ukraine. We are living in a difficult time, and, unfortunately, the current generation is facing severe challenges. But we believe in the victory of our military, and we know that soon there will come a time when we will all need to rebuild and lead our country,” said Volodymyr Kachmar, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Social Affairs and University Development.

In addition, Tetyana Krut, Deputy Director of the Social Protection Department of the Lviv Regional Military Administration, spoke to the participants of the event and told them about the region’s social initiatives:

“It is great that some people try to make children who have suffered losses happy. We at the Lviv Regional Military Administration are always glad to support such initiatives. Your efforts allow us to understand these categories and their needs better. We can initiate changes at the state level, but this is only possible together with you. I believe that these initiatives will be supported at the state level, and we will be able to build a policy to protect children and families of fallen Heroes,” emphasized Tetyana Krut.

The meeting concluded with informal discussions, an exchange of views, and collaborative plans to implement essential social projects to support children and their families during this challenging time.
