Medical care

Medical assistance programs provide children with access to necessary medical procedures, treatment, and rehabilitation. They allow our beneficiaries to take medical tests, attend online and offline appointments with specialists, receive basic first aid kits and insurance, and also participate in educational lectures on medical topics for guardians.

Medical consultations

The Fund strives to provide families under its care with access to consultations, tests, and other services through our medical partners. Providing medical consultations ensures not only the physical but also the psychological and social well-being of children, which are crucial for their harmonious development and future life.

Families who have been forced to flee their homes often face the problem of accessing medical services in a new city. In such cases, online appointments with specialist doctors allow them to detect and prevent potential illnesses.

Thanks to cooperation with our regular partners, children can receive both online and offline services, and it is an important step in supporting their harmonious development. Regular partners: Mama’s House (“Мамин Дом”) Polyclinic (Kharkiv and Kyiv), Leleka Medical Center, Odrex Medical Center (Odesa), MIRUM Clinic Diagnostic Center (Kyiv), Sheptytsky Hospital Diagnostic Center (Ternopil), Apollonia Dental Clinic Studio.

Medical tests

Timely testing helps detect various diseases at early stages, which significantly increases the effectiveness of treatment. This applies to infectious and chronic or genetic diseases. For children with chronic illnesses, regular tests are vital as they help monitor their health and evaluate the effectiveness of treatment. However, many families in difficult financial situations cannot afford such services.

Partners who provided the opportunity to take tests free of charge: in 2023 — Sinevo Laboratory, in 2023-2024 — Dila Laboratory.

First-aid kits and vitamins

First-aid kits, which contain essential medicines for immediate treatment in cases of injuries, cuts, burns, and other emergencies, play a crucial role in providing basic health care for children. Vitamins, also included in the first-aid kits, help strengthen children’s immunity, reducing the risk of illness and infection—especially critical in situations where access to a balanced diet is limited.

This initiative is a vital step in maintaining the health of the Fund’s beneficiaries by providing them with essential resources to care for themselves in difficult circumstances.

Medical insurance

The medical insurance provided by the Children of Heroes Fund offers access to quality medical care for the most vulnerable groups among our beneficiaries. It helps strengthen their health, reduce mortality, and improve the overall quality of children’s lives.

The insurance program covers families where the deceased was a civilian, as well as the families of military personnel who are not eligible for one-time financial assistance. Each child receives an insurance policy valid for one year, which covers a wide range of medical services, including:

  • Appointments with specialist doctors
  • Provision of medicines
  • Reimbursement of treatment costs
  • Diagnostic examinations
  • Physiotherapy procedures

Ophthalmology

Vision enables a child to explore the world, learn, and fully engage in everyday life. Unfortunately, some of the Fund’s beneficiaries require constant vision correction, including glasses and contact lenses. The high cost of optical care presents a significant challenge for many families, especially those facing difficult financial circumstances. In some cases, children are forced to use monthly contact lenses for 2-3 months because their guardians cannot afford to purchase a new pair. Thanks to the support of our partner, Luxoptica, the Fund’s beneficiaries receive regular assistance in various forms, including:
  • Contact lenses
  • Lenses for glasses
  • Contact lens solutions
  • Moisturizing eye drops
This is not a one-time support; the children have the opportunity to receive the necessary items every month, ensuring their proper vision care.
