Recently, the CEO of the Children of Heroes Charity Fund, Tetiana Novytska, and CMO Nataliya Lurie made an important visit to Germany. During the trip, they visited Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, Heidelberg, and Munich, holding meetings with government representatives, charity organizations, and the public. The primary goal of the visit was to strengthen support for Ukrainian children affected by the war.
In Berlin, the Fund’s representatives met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to Germany, Oleksii Makeiev. During the meeting, they discussed ways to support Ukrainian children forced to leave their homeland and presented the Fund’s work results. A particularly touching moment of the meeting was the presentation of a painting, created by one of the Fund’s beneficiaries, to the Ambassador. This emotional gesture symbolized the voice of Ukrainian children — filled with dreams, hope, and faith in the future.
In Hamburg, the delegation met with the Consul General of Ukraine, Iryna Tybinka. Key topics discussed included advocacy for the rights of children who have lost their parents, as well as support both in Ukraine and for those in Germany.
Additionally, they met with representatives of the organization Ein Herz für Kinder, Anna Pauly and Linda Kuhl. This organization has been supporting the Fund’s beneficiaries since the beginning of the war. During the discussions, both sides explored possibilities for integrating the Fund into socio-cultural and economic events that will take place in Germany in the coming year.
The busy day concluded with meetings with the leadership of Ukrainian House in Hamburg and the Northern German Aid Headquarters for Ukraine. The discussions focused on mechanisms for assisting Ukrainian families with children in Germany and the further steps to expand the Fund’s activities in 2025.
In Cologne, Tetiana Novytska and Nataliya Lurie held meetings with Yulia Chenusha and Nadiia Khmeliuk from BGK, as well as Joerg Jacobs from HERZENSGUT. With the support of these companies, many Ukrainian school children received humanitarian aid, and their homes were provided with necessary generators for heating during the winter months. During these meetings, they discussed further cooperation prospects, including the organization of camps for children’s psychological rehabilitation and plans for the coming years.
Equally important was the meeting with Mrs. Ulyana Derkach, founder and head of the Association of Ukrainian Students and Doctoral Candidates at the University of Cologne. They discussed the education of Ukrainian children in Germany and involving German youth in joint charitable initiatives.
This trip was another step toward expanding international support for children who have lost their parents due to the war. Thanks to the meetings, сrucial agreements were reached regarding advocating children’s rights, their social adaptation, and educational opportunities in Germany. The Children of Heroes CF will continue to work to ensure the beneficiaries receive the necessary help and a chance for a better future.
